CGR Undertow – THE SIMS 2 review for Nintendo DS

The Sims 2 review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of The Sims 2 for the Nintendo DS developed by Griptonite Games and published by Electronic Arts.

Electronic Arts deserves credit for The Sims 2 on the Nintendo DS. Rather than make it a watered down version of the console game, they actually released something unique to the platform. The Sims 2 is still very much a Sims game, but it also feels a bit more linear and streamlined. Your Sim ends up in Strangetown, where a hotel is losing business and on the brink of closing. Because this is a video game, you’re charged with fixing it up. The Sims 2 is like a Sims game meets hotel simulator. Please your guests, earn money, chase away aliens—the basics of hospitality.

This video review features video gameplay footage of The Sims 2 for the Nintendo DS and audio commentary from Classic Game Room’s Derek.

  1. I remember playing this game when I was 11 or 12 (got my ds at 11). It's fun , I've managed to beat it.
But it's damn scary. The music is scary. It's scarier than the Grim Reaper even. I still remember being really terrified of the aliens music, playing as the Ratman gives me chills also because I'm afraid I couldn't catch the baddies. And what the hell is that statue thing in the basement. Idk. Maybe it's old games that are just downright creepy, cuz even Sims 1 music and sound effects were scary

  2. was a weird game, never finished it. mostly remember searching for "rods" or something, aliens and being sad about it not being like a normal sims game

  3. I remember I stop playing this game because I used to use the clock glitch and my character would walk very slowly so I stop playing the game

  4. I get that this is an old video, but this review is kind of trash. I would struggle to even call it a review. You make no mention of the various minigames. You don't mention anything about the quirky story or characters. You don't mention that you can customize the rooms in the hotel and can buy various types of furniture. You mention how the game is tied to the real life clock, but don't mention that turning the clock backwards causing the game to launch an alien invasion in every invasion spawning spot in the game. No mention of performance or sound quality. You say the graphics are "bland", but each area in the game has a distinct style. There is so much you missed out on in regards to this game.

  5. It's honestly the model for a dog shit DS game. The devs probably had nothing to work with but made a memorable game.

  6. This wasn’t a review at all. Very little dialogue about the game mechanics and next to nothing about the story
